David’s acting career spans over 40 years – he has worked on some of Britain’s best loved and critically acclaimed television shows including Bafta Winning Our Friends in The North, Band of Gold and The Street, along with regular roles in popular series such as Holby City and The Bill and more recently multi-award winning series Da Vinci’s Demons, The Shadow Line and Shameless.
David’s expansive feature film credits range from independent British features to Hollywood blockbusters and Oscar winning films - he is probably best known for his roles as ‘Falco’ in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator, ‘McQueen’ in From Hell, anti-Hitler conspirator ‘Erwin von Witzleben’ in Valkyrie and ‘Mercer’ in Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and the sequel Pirates of The Caribbean: At World’s End. David also delighted audiences in the comedy feature Mindhorn (exec produced by Ridley Scott, written by and starring Mighty Boosh creator Julian Barratt) which premiered at London Film Festival 2016.
David was most recently seen playing British Prime Minister Clement Atlee alongside Gary Oldman as Churchill in the Oscar-winning film Darkest Hour and the role of Thomas in Mary Magdalene (2018) with Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix.
